Community Visiting Nurse Association Announces Recipient of Caroline E. Krajewski Manney Nursing Scholarship

Community Visiting Nurse Association awarded the third annual Caroline E. Krajewski Manney Nursing Scholarship to Kacy Gehring at the agency’s annual meeting on May 14th.  Ms. Gehring is a student at Raritan Valley Community College.

Ms. Gehring embraces the values of Caroline Krajewski Manney, the agency’s former director. “She was passionate about the needs of her patients and the promotion of health in our community” stated Alyce Brophy, President and CEO.

Helping to present the award was Mrs. Krajewski’s son Steve, Health Officer for Somerville, Manville and Raritan.  The scholarship was developed in memory of Caroline E. Krajewski Manney, former Director of Community Visiting Nurse Association from 1969 to 1985.  Ms. Manney was a true visionary, recognizing the importance of nursing, home care and community-based services in promoting the health of individuals and the community.

The scholarship is awarded annually to a Somerset County resident currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program within the state of New Jersey.  Selection is based on evaluation of academic achievement, letter of recommendation and an essay on why they chose nursing as a profession.

Community Visiting Nurse Association and its affiliates, Community VNS, Community Home Care and Community Care Hospice are non-profit home health and hospice providers serving Somerset and Middlesex counties since 1948.  They are licensed by the State of New Jersey, certified by Medicare and Medicaid and accredited by Community Health Accreditation Program (CHAP).  Community VNA provides home health care, hospice care and community health care services.
