2018 Nursing Scholarship Presented
Community Visiting Nurse Association (CVNA) presented its 12th annual Caroline E. Krajewski Manney Nursing Scholarship Award on May 9 at its 69th Annual Meeting, held at the Raritan Valley Country Club in Bridgewater, NJ.  This year’s winner is Catherine Yorkgitis of Basking Ridge, NJ, a student at Saint Peter’s University, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing

The scholarship was developed in memory of Caroline E. Krajewski Manney, Director of Community VNA from 1969-1985.  Ms. Manney was a true visionary, recognizing the importance of home care and community-based services in promoting the health of individuals and the community.  The award is present to an individual, or individuals, who reside in Somerset or Warren County, are pursuing a career in nursing and who demonstrate dedication to the field of nursing and community health.  Helping to present the award was current CVNA Board Chair, Carol Patterson.

Ms. Yorkgitis commented, “I want to use my love of learning about the human body and my love of caring for other people.  Being a nurse is all about dedicating your life to the service of other people.”

“Community VNA is proud of its commitment to the field of nursing and to the community, awarding this nursing scholarship to a local resident,” Alyce Brophy, President/CEO of CVNA, stated.  “Catherine embodies the values of Caroline Krajewski Manney, the agency’s former director.  She is a strong, confident, and driven woman dedicated to becoming a caring professional nurse exemplifying those values of Caroline Krajewski Manney.  Community VNA is proud to promote the field of nursing as well as honor our former Director by presenting the Caroline E. Krajewski Manney Nursing Scholarship Award.”
